There is just so much to do and see in Paris you will never have time for everything in three days. So you go for the best and most known places. One important thing in my opinion is to also leave some time to freely walk around in Paris between famous places, and discover the city.

For example:
Starting the first day at the Eiffel tower is a must, but if you are not there well before opening times, you can expect long queues (easily 30 min-1 hour). Then have a walk over the river to Trocadero, from here you will get a very beautiful view on the Eiffel tower and its surroundings. A lot of things usually goes on in this place too, like street dancers performing etc.
You can then walk all the way to Arc de Triomphe and have a view from the top and/or continue walking along the famous Champs Elysees, visiting shops and chilling at some café along the way.

Second day you could for example start with a sightseeing river cruise. There is one that starts and ends near Musée d’Orsay that will take about an hour, which I would recommend. From there you could walk all the way to the Louvre Museum, and as that Museum is huge you might have to spend the rest of the day there, probably until closing time. Expect long queues as it is the most visited museum in the world. You could however start the day with visiting the museum, getting there before opening time to avoid long queues and later do the river cruise.

Third day (especially if it is nice weather) you could start at Jardin Luxembourg and walk your way to the Cathedral of Notre-Dame (where you at least can see it from outside, now that it is closed after the fire). The afternoon you could spend at the Basillica of Sacré-Coeur and Montmartre. Instead of walking you could also make use of the public transport, and I would really recommend bus over the subway. Because with the bus you will get the chance to see Paris and its street life from a Parisian point of view, sort of. If time is of essence, then subway is of course better. I would for this recommend using their site, ratp.fr/en which is a good help.

And like others said… take photos and selfies along the way. And enjoy your visit!
